My subject matters are chosen from common things that we all are surrounded by, but are then depicted in an uncommon way. I want to show the beauty and wonders of life's simple things. I paint ordinary things in an extraordinary way. I prefer to paint from real still life setups, training my eye to see what is not obvious. I start with a value study in black and white, to assure that I have interpreted the motif in the most unique and exciting way possible, seeing what others might not see.
On some of my canvasses, hand made papers and silks are painstakingly fastened to the surface in order to create an interesting texture and base for the painting.
In the process of designing an eloquent piece of art, where the motif radiates with rich colors, I meticulously use contrasting colors as an abstract under painting. Then I describe the subject matter itself. This is a technique used over centuries by the old masters, making my paintings vibrate with exciting, electric colors, taking conventional subjects to a different level.
Each and every painting is then overlaid with a protective UV- cover, in order to preserve the work of art over the years. My paintings are of museum quality. I mix many of my own paints using pure pigments that I import from my native Sweden, to assure the most brilliant and luminous colors possible.
