Biography TINYAN was born in Kwantung, China in 1942, the youngest of a family of artists. He enrolled at the Mid Southern China Academy of Fine Art at age 16, after 3 years he continued his study at the Canton Academy of Fine Art. In 1962 Tinyan moved to, Hong Kong to join his brother at the famous Konn’s Gallery where his older brother was a renowned portrait artist. In 1965 Tinyan spent 2 years in Africa designing textiles as well as pursuing his art. After spending a year in Paris at the "Ecole National Superieure de Beaux-Art" he immigrated to Canada in 1968 and in that year achieved his goal of becoming a professional artist.
Tinyan held many one-man shows across North America and established himself as one of Canada's leading artists. He continued his travels gathering inspiration and subject matter for his paintings; his subject matter varies featuring landscapes of North America and Hong Kong as well as his brilliant florals. Tinyan has won many awards both nationally and internationally, in 1983 Tinyan was awarded the designation of "Master" Painter by the Federation of Canadian Artists (F.C.A); This title is limited to only 14 living artists at any time. More recently, Tinyan was honored by the Federation when he became one of only 12 living artists in the world to earn the title of "Senior Master."
With his bold, bright and vibrant paintings Tinyan has developed a very strong market exhibiting regularly in galleries throughout Canada and the United States. In addition he has participated in many shows internationally in Britain, Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, and the USA. Since 1964 he has had over 60 One Man shows and participated in over 50 juried Group Exhibitions. Tinyan is collected around the world in many private, public and corporate collections as well as having work in the Royal Collection of Thailand.
